No record would be returned if we query for a record with some Farsi
value (in case that libiconv is disabled).

I don't have locale on ARM, the output of locale on Fedora x86 is:
LANG=en_US.UTF-8
LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NUMERIC="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MONETARY="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_PAPER="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_NAME="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ADDRESS="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8"
LC_ALL=

In my recent build, I have used GNU libiconv:
./configure --host=arm-linux --target=arm-linux
--prefix=/opt/installed/arm/freetds
--with-odbc-nodm=/opt/installed/arm/unixODBC_2.3 --enable-static
--enable-msdblib --with-libiconv-prefix=/opt/fara0/iconv/

It is text.

I think it is little endian

on ARM:
iconv.c:330:tds_iconv_open(0x29538, ISO-8859-1)
iconv.c:337:error: tds_iconv_init() returned 1; could not find a name for ISO
88
59-1 that your iconv accepts.
on x86 Fedora:
iconv.c:330:tds_iconv_open(0x90c4138, UTF-8)
iconv.c:187:local name for ISO-8859-1 is ISO-8859-1
iconv.c:187:local name for UTF-8 is UTF-8
iconv.c:187:local name for UCS-2LE is UCS-2LE
iconv.c:187:local name for UCS-2BE is UCS-2BE
iconv.c:349:setting up conversions for client charset "UTF-8"
iconv.c:351:preparing iconv for "UTF-8" <-> "UCS-2LE" conversion
iconv.c:391:preparing iconv for "ISO-8859-1" <-> "UCS-2LE" conversion
iconv.c:394:tds_iconv_open: done
Thanks,
Hamid
