It is correct. OS/X needs to fix its poll...
In the Perl sources there is a poll() emulation implemented in terms of select() if that's of interest to anybody:
http://perl5.git.perl.org/perl.git/blob_plain/HEAD:/ext/IO/poll.c
No doubt there are other home-grown implementations kicking around as well.
