Hi Dan,
Couldn't you describe the HS environment in which you tried to use one:
Oracle version and addressing mode (64/32bit)? - this is important for
libtool using.
For example: file $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle
/home2/u01/app/oracle64/92/bin/oracle: ELF 64-bit MSB executable SPARCV9
Version 1, dynamically linked, not stripped
sqlplus "/ as sysdba"
SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.7.0 - Production on Wed Feb 8 15:36:48 2006
Copyright (c) 1982, 2002, Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved.
Connected to:
Oracle9i Enterprise Edition Release 9.2.0.7.0 - 64bit Production
With the Partitioning, OLAP and Oracle Data Mining options
JServer Release 9.2.0.7.0 - Production

Solaris version (you refer to 2.8 but in subj I see 9)?
uname -a
SunOS ue1 5.8 Generic_108528-12 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-Enterprise

Sincerely yours.
