In this case, consult your friendly manual. :-)
$ man tsql | sed -ne'/troubleshooting/,/ignore/p'
man: Formatting manual page...
The -H and -p parameters are provided especially for
troubleshooting
new configurations (or servers). Use of these parameters causes
FreeTDS
to ignore any freetds.conf and environment variables.
and bear in mind:
1. the TDS version is normally taken from freetds.conf
2. for SQL Anywhere, the [dataserver] name must match the name of the
database you're connecting to.
