You need the dev tools for OSX (XCode). This is on a seperate CD and distributed with OSX, afaik.

You can also download the dev tools through apples devloper site. http://developer.apple.com

This is completely unrelated to freetds and any further issues regarding compiling software under OSX would be better answered in a more targeted forum.

I'm new to installing software in this manor and I have read the userguide. None the less, I'm still confused.

I've downloaded the freetds-stable 14-40-10.tgz file and unpacked it. When I try and run the ./configure command I get the following output...

checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... no
checking for mawk... no
checking for nawk... no
checking for awk... awk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... no
checking build system type... powerpc-apple-darwin7.7.0
checking host system type... powerpc-apple-darwin7.7.0
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See `config.log' for more details.

Notice the error message... no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH. I'm not sure where I would get a C compiler.

I'm running OS X 10.3.7 and PHP 4.3.2. My goal in installing this is to attempt to connect to a MS SQL database running on another server.

As I said, I'm new to this whole thing and am not sure what I'm doing, so I'm thinking this is probably a stupid question.

Thanks,
Dave
