I have now fixed this problem. It was nothing to do with freetds. It is
an error in DBD::ODBC which I have notified the author about. Basically
it tries, and fails, to keep track of the maximum size of parameter to a
bind. It reverts to a maximum of 80 characters in all cases.

A quick fix is to change the '80' to '1000' in dbdimp.c but I suspect
that there is a more elegant solution ...
