Yes, it's possible. Keep the MIT-licensed code in its own module, so
it's clear where it came from, and what its licensing terms are.

It doesn't automatically become LGPL merely because it's included in an
LGPL distribution (binary or source). The LGPL basically ensures that
the LGPL-licensed code remains free. As long as we continue to
distribute the LGPL-licensed code, we're complying with its essential
terms.

The MIT-license imposes no special terms on code linked to it. AIUI,
that's why it's called "compatible". The same is true for code in the
public domain. (FreeTDS already includes several modules that are in
the public domain.)
