Jun,
Its not a problem, I do it all the time.
First you need to know the IP address and Port number that that server
instance is operating on.
Get this from your SQL server admin...
Then, set up the freetds.conf file entry for the server, e.g.
[MYSERVER]
host = 123.456.789.123
port = 9999
initial block size = 4096
tds version = 8.0
or, alternatively :
[MYSERVER]
host = ino0w062n2.svr.bankone.net
port = ????
initial block size = 4096
tds version = 8.0
Your different instances will listen on different port numbers.
Its best to give the server a simple server name as far as freetds is
concerned.
specifically its best not to have a "\" in the name, as if you have to
specify this on a UNIX command line,
the shell will get confused....
Bill

Subject: [freetds] How to configure Freetds to access cluster instance
MS SQL Server
Hi All,
Does anyone know how to configure freetds to access a cluster instance
of
MS SQL Server 2000?
In order to access the cluster instance, I have to specify the hostname
as
ino0w062n2.svr.bankone.net\midrangeim.
Thanks.
