Hi

I installed the deb packages for establishing a DBD::Sybase connection using
freetds.
Package: freetds-dev Version: 0.61-5
Package: libdbd-sybase-perl Version: 1.00-1

I am trying to connect to windows XP running MSSQL7.

When trying to connect to the sybase hosted server with:

I get:
$dbh =
DBI->connect("dbi:Sybase:server=192.138.151.39:4444;interface=/etc/freetds/freetds.conf",
"", "");
src/tds/login.c: tds_connect: 192.138.151.39:4444: No route to host

and when I try to contact my local SQLSERVER with:
$dbh =
DBI->connect("dbi:Sybase:server=192.161.1.4;database=enterprise;interface=/etc/freetds/freetds.conf",
"su", "whatever");

I can see some ip activity:
[eric@apple ~] 13 $ tcpdump port 1433
tcpdump: listening on eth0

04:10:52.414756
192.168.1.2.36776 > 192.161.1.4.1433: S 3792556804:3792556804(0) win 5840
<mss 1460,sackOK,timestamp 4036157 0,nop,wscale 0> (DF)

but get this:
src/tds/login.c: tds_connect: 192.161.1.4:1433: Connection timed out
DBI
connect('server=192.161.1.4;database=enterprise;interface=/etc/freetds/freetds.conf','su',...)
failed: OpenClient message: LAYER = (0) ORIGIN = (0) SEVERITY = (78) NUMBER
= (41)
Message String: Server is unavailable or does not exist.

Only configuration I have made is the following staza in
/etc/freetds/freetds.conf FWIW:
[MyServer70]
host = 192.168.1.4
port = 1433
tds version = 7.0

please help clear some of the smoke...

Thanks
