Thanks a lot, that does seem to take care of it. Strangely enough, PHP's
gettype() function still says the returned value is an integer when
using --with-sybase, even with your patch applied, while gettype() reports
"resource" when using --with-mssql. But mssql_fetch_object() doesn't
complain, and returns the correct results. While that is certainly unusual
it's probably not worth worrying about.
