I looked into this some time ago, so I have a pretty good understanding of
what needs to be done. I can probably whip something together and commit it
without too much trouble, if you are willing to test it.

Rather worried some more...

Does anyone know...

1) If we do blocking reads from the server when waiting for the results of a
query ? I think we do...
2) If so, what we would have to do to change these to non-blocking reads ?
3) could we then code dbsetinterrupt ?
