hi,
thanks for your response.
i did all the things you said.
But my question was rather for an C API as it comes with for example,
mysql. The reason for this is
that i do not want to make tsql calls using exec, system or pipe commands.
thanks in advance.
best regards.

Dear Cinar
Now that sounds better , does it not , ok
now to get freeTDS working
first download the latest build
ftp://ftp.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/ALPHA/freetds/freetds-0.60.tgz
or http://ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/ALPHA/freetds/freetds-0.60-1.i386.rpm
I guess you have done this unpack the distribution
now go to the directory where you have unpacked
$ gunzip -c freetds-0.60.tgz
$ ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/freetds
$ make
$ su root
Password:
$ make install
if you have reached here then you are half way home
all you now have to do is toopen the freetds.conf file
and add an entry to the server
this should be in your installtion directory
yourdirectory/etc
the file is self explanatory
now go to the bin directory
you would seea tsql utility ,
say ./tsql and you should get a command line like prompt
happy querying
-abhi
