Can't, without changing the license of FreeTDS to GPL instead of LGPL.
However, the snprintf code Samba uses comes by way of Patrick Powell
(LPRng author) and Michael Elkins (mutt maintainer). Perhaps it was
LGPLed at some point in the past.

If all else fails, glibc definitely has an LGPL implementation. :)
