column_name BETWEEN '2002-03-01 00:00:00.000' AND '2002-03-31 23:59:59.999'
However the whole point was that although there may well be -better- ways of
checking a year/date combination, the LIKE '2001-03%' example shown -should-
work, and it'd be interesting to see why it doesn't.
