It basically comes down to 1) 7.0 GA breaks Sybase OpenClient connectivity
(basically attempts to connect by a TDS 5.0 client should gracefully fall
back to 4.2 if the server does not support 5.0). 2) 7.0 GA to SP2 broke
big endian sybase (and freetds) connectivity in slightly different ways
(dates, moneys, any complex type like that). And since there is not easy
way to query the server for for an exact patch level it makes it difficult
to determine what to support. I believe all these issues are resolved in
SP3(?) but we've side stepped the issue by allowing big endian clients to
appear to the server as little endian.
