Oracle allows you to create a heterogeneous service so that it appears as
though tables in a seperate dbms are available from within the oracle db.
This allows you to do select statements with data from say, a table in a
sql7 db and join it to a table in oracle. It's quite handy.

not sure i understand what you are trying to do.

you want a way to grab data from a SQL Server server
and load it into your Oracle database?

The problem may lie with Oracle's generic connectivity tool.

One free solution is to do the connecting yourself.
A few lines of Perl and the DBD::Sybase and DBD::Oracle modules
would do the trick for me.
