I use the FreeTDSJDBC in production so I can help with a small test program
(there is one in the user guide) anyway can you post the entire code for
your test program change only the username and password nothing else in the
connection string.

Also a dump of the classpath, and all the file attributes of the .jar file
you are using.

My problem is identical to yours, I get the same NullPointerException.
My code is has identical set up to yours. I can see nothing wrong... I
have checked that port 1433 was open on the server, and it was.

I can't offer any more suggestions, just wanted to say we are 'in the same
boat' awaiting suggestions....
