Are you setting the SYBASE environment variable? I just learned php last
night, so I can't be certain, but something like:
putenv("SYBASE=/usr/local/freetds");
might work.

the following code:
<?php
$myCon = mssql_connect ("sqlServer","user","password");
mssql_select_db ("mydb",$myCon);

$myCon allways gets a incorrect linkId (void)!
It seems like mssql_connect function doesn't work fine :(, and
mssql_select_db drops one error because $myCon haven't a correct value.
My interface file looks like:
sqlServer
query tcp ether 192.168.0.2 1433
master tcp ether 192.168.0.2 1433
