Using MSSQLServer 7.0 Beta 3 I have successfully connected with Sybase's
isql distributed with their 4.9 release (isql -v = DB-Lib 4.6).
select @@version returns -
Microsoft SQL Server 7.00 - 7.00.517 (Intel X86)
Jun 19 1998 17:06:54
Copyright (c) 1988-1998 Microsoft Corporation
Standard version on Windows NT
Using sybperl 2.09 with the dynamic libraries distributed with Sybase's
version 11 I cannot connect using either Sybase::DBlib or Sybase::CTlib.
In the rumor mill I've heard that dblib may be just a wrapper around ctlib.
Thinking about this a moment though doesn't make sense because I can
connect to Sybase servers using Sybase::DBlib without libct.so, and the
other CT-Library shared libraries. Perhaps if I dbsetversion() to an older
version the Sybase::DBlib would connect to MS7...
Good luck with freetds! What a great idea!
