hi everyone,

just a reminder about the Float party at Ringside tomorrow night. expect
to be body-rocked by Ja'Maul and $tinkworx, who are both playing live
sets in the Detroit vein, with some electro and perhaps housier moments in
there too. and then there's the drum and bass floor, which is always a
rollicking good time for all the boys and girls. anyhow, see you there
and, as always, thanks for coming out to support electronic music in
the triangle!

hugs,

reynolds

Float :: 11.22.03 :: Ringside

North Carolina: raise your mopped fist in a display of pride! Our fine
state boasts not only a thriving artery of dj culture, but also a
simmering pool of producers making mindblowing dance music right in
our own backyard.

Float is proud to present live sets by two fine Tarheels who have
taken their affinity for Detroit-inspired techno, electro and disco to
the next level...

Ja'Maul Redmond
[loner.9, Activ-Analog Records : Charlotte]
www.activ-analog.com : live techno

Originally hailing from Flint, MI, Ja'Maul's music is deeply
influenced by the subtle, shifting 808 minimalism of techno masters
Robert Hood and Carl Craig as well as the jacked electro of Juan
Atkins, Aux 88, Keith Tucker, etc. Opting for analog drum machines
over laptops, he coaxes maximum expression out of relatively basic
technology: to maximum effect on the dancefloor. Look for a deep
electro jam out now on Charlotte's Activ-Analog label.

$tinkworx
[Downlow Records, Bunker, Delsin : Chapel Hill]
www.downlowmusic.org : live electrodisco

$tinkworx is NC's best kept electronic music secret, but not for long!
Expect invocations of the spirits of Donna Summer and Giorgio Moroder
amidst funky-ass (the hyphenated word cannot be avoided) Rhodes keys
and a dashes of tweaky acid wash. Not long after releasing a couple
hot 7"s on his Downlow imprint, he caught the attention of Bunker,
Holland's premier electro label, who issued another couple of 12"s
that have earned him a pedestal in the brownish pantheon of Dutch
electrodisco denizens.
