suppression is by what is known as "eco-sterilizing". there is a finite
amount of space within any solution, that is its holding capacity for life.
if you fill all of the spaces with probiotic life forms, there with be no
available room for pathogenic forms to live. both forms take to different
environments to live. most pathogens thrive in anaerobic conditions, that is
why compost teas must have an air pump. any space within the solution that
become less than oxygenated would have the possibility to become breeding
grounds for the pathogens. em, effective microorganism, is a collection of
probiotic forms that work in an anaerobic environ. these are reported to
inhibit not so friendly forms as well as use them as food. check out

dear members

could somebody explain to me the mechanism of pathogen suppresion in compost, especially with reference to e. coli, fecal streptococcus.

I would also appreciate if i could be informed about any website, treating such info.
