T&A applied compost teas to young transplants with a tractor and
boom sprayer combination. The set up was identical to a herbicide
sprayer, with nozzles low to the ground, but the spray tank + nozzles
were geared to Biologicals Only (of course). The liquid foliars
drenched the leaves and ran down the stem, creating a ribbon of wet
soil down the crop row; i.e., a foliar drench and a soil drench in the
same application.

Thus, compost teas were put into action at both the phyllosphere
and the rhizosphere with one application.

In microbial inoculation of seeds, you enable young roots and shoots
to become infected with the beneficial microbe, the antagonist, the
growth promoting rhizobacteria.

The analogy to compost tea is that by applying liquid biologicals
to young plants you are offering them a chance to grow up with
a beneficial microbial guild.

The humic acids present in compost teas may play a significant
role in the lives of young plants, and this may be viewed as a
biostimulatory effect of compost teas. Humic substances are
known to interact with the DNA of young plants, which can
effect their whole life cycle.
