Hi Daniel, Jeff and all,

On SoilFood Web website Elaine lists several specific applications for
a few crops - apples, corn, wheat, soy, for varying times of the year.
She also has an article on her website called Cirrent Trends in
Compost Tea where she says:

If about 65-70% of the leaf surface is covered with bacteria (which
translates into at least 300 kt9 (microgram) of bacteria per ml in the
tea, applied at about 5 gallons of tea to the acre), then you will have
little to no disease when disease is not intense. When disease
conditions are perfect for the growth of disease-causing organisms,
then you need to have that last 15% of the leaf covered with fungi.
Aerobic fungal species are the ones that take on the worst fungal "bad
guys" and win. In a "no-disease" year, almost any tea will be OK. But in
a tough situation it is extremely important to have the fungal component
in the tea. That translates into about 2 to 20kt 9 of fungal biomass in a
tea, so that the leaves will be adequately covered when applying at 5
gallons of tea per acre. What if you have less than 2 kt9 per ml of fungal
biomass? Then you have to put on enough tea to bring the amount
applied to the 2 pLg level. For example, if your tea has only 0.5ktg fungi,
and you need 2~59, then you have to put on 4 times as much tea.
Instead of 5 gal/acre, you will need to apply 20 gal/acre.

Hope this helps

Carole Eddington
