Hi: James Minadeo, of aitechnology.com sent me an email and in it, he proudly announced their patents on the underlying technology for voter verification ballot printouts. jminadeo AT aitechnology.com

The dots line up with this leading other proprietary competitors having to go a different route, and not use voter verification ballot printouts. Throughout the great history of America, the voter has always had the right to public scrutiny of the voting process.

Today, we face the strong possibility, at least for the 2004 elections, that the voter relinquishes control over her ballot, giving it to corporate control to cast the ballot along with a smile and "Trust Us" greeting.

I for one, feel strongly that there is a compelling public interest in the business method patents sought by aitechnology.com, and that that public interest argument far outweighs the patent rights of the company. But, that doesn't help with the 2004 elections, does it?

Find out just how arrogant the company is, how it feels about licensing the technology to its competitors. Bad Karma.
Thanks,
Tom Poe

P.S. We're about to put out an Open Source alternative that permits public scrutiny of the source code. Wish us luck.
