Title: Not Making It

The COMMON SENSE Foundation

Consider This…

NOT MAKING IT

People in Raleigh and across the state are talking about a new publication that shows just how hard it is to make ends meet for many North Carolinians.

Entitled Not Making It, the publication, distributed by the N.C. Alliance for Economic Justice (of which the Common Sense Foundation is a founding member), documents what was heard at a series of open forums held across the state in 2004. The people profiled in Not Making It have compelling stories to tell, about how hard it is to find jobs and health care and child care in a state ravaged by plant closings and job loss.

State leaders talk about jobs as a top priority, but their answers to the problemhuge handouts to big corporationsare not the answer to help these folks. Investment in education, job retraining, health care, and child care make so much more sense to address the growing needs of those who tell their stories in Not Making It.
