Dear CHPAC,
I’m resending Emily’s message below to make sure you all received it. I found it in my junk mailbox for some reason.
Best,
Steve

Is anyone else interested in going to this? I'd say we leave around 4 pm, it takes about an hour if we don't run into heavy traffic. So we can take a peak at the museum. I'm happy to drive.

Forwarding this invitation to a very interesting public art lecture taking place at UNC-Greensboro on Nov. 5th for anyone who might be interested.

A CHANGE OF ART: The Evolution of Contemporary Public Art in America
How did we end up with the broad spectrum of wild and wonderful public art we enjoy today? Who were the pioneers that paved the way,
and what new directions are artists pursuing today? Jack Becker, publisher of Public Art Review magazine and founder of Forecast Public Art in Minnesota, takes us on a journey that answers these and many other questions. "Public art is a field of inquiry,
not unlike medicine or science," says Becker. The city is a laboratory and artists of all varieties are experimenting, inventing and testing ideas in public everyday."
Jack Becker is the founder and Executive Director of Forecast Public Art, a Minnesota-based nonprofit started in 1978. In 1989, he
established a grant program for emerging public artists and Public Art Review, an international magazine devoted exclusively to contemporary public art. As an artist with experience in theater and visual arts, he applies his creativity to projects that
connect the ideas and energies of artists with the needs and opportunities of communities. Becker received the 2007 Award of Excellence from Americans for the Arts and the 2014 Public Art Dialogue Lifetime Achievement Award, a program of the College Art Association.
As a founding member of the Institute for Public Art, he is currently working with international partners to research and recognize outstanding public art projects around the world.
