Public Art Academy for Artists" Webinar Series Begins

The Public Art Network of Americans for the Arts will present a 3-part webinar series entitled Public Art Academy for Artists” over the next few weeks. This free webinar series will give artists all the information and tools needed to compete for public art commissions locally and nationally, including entering into the public art field, writing proposals, interviewing for commissions, understanding contracts and managing project timelines and budgets. A seasoned artist and administrator will share their knowledge and experience with attendees.

This 3-part webinar series is scheduled for 2 pm on September 29th, October 13th, and November 3rd in Room 109 at Durham Technical College, Orange County Campus (525 College Park Road, Hillsborough, 27278, 919/536-7238). The Orange County campus of Durham Tech is located in the Waterstone Development just outside of Hillsborough. See the hotlink below for directions:

Presenters will include Barbara Goldstein, Public Art Director, City of San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs and Steven Huss, Cultural Arts Manager, City of Oakland, Cultural Arts Marketing Department.

Webinar topics are as follows:

September 29 (Webinar 1) - “Making the Transition from Studio Artist to Public Artist”
October 13 (Webinar 2) - “Getting Started”
November 3 (Webinar 3) - “Developing the Design: Working with Materials and Budgets”

Feel free to attend any or all of these free webinars. To get the most out of this series, it is recommended that you attend all three as they have been designed to be sequential.
