Dear CHPAC, Below is a copy of the Permanent Collection Committee report.
A silver coffee mug and a pair of glasses were left at last
week’s retreat, and last night a large black umbrella was left at our
meeting - let me know if any of these items is yours. Thanks, Steve Permanent Collection Committee May 6,2007 April 10, 2007 Prior to the meeting Kate indicated that an inventory was completed -
see the CHPAC web site. The agenda set for the meeting: consideration of an exhibit of art
appropriate for that kind of display; a loan policy of art to CH governing
offices; insurance; the question of embarking on a campaign to increase the
collection; assessment annually of the condition of all the art - indoors and
out. We discussed display places, University Mall, vacant store fronts and
the CH Museum. The committee would research these venues. Getting a story
written in a newspaper about the collection; developing a form for
folks/organizations/businesses to donate art, and requesting Kate to provide a
slide show of the art for a future monthly CHPAC meeting were additional
topics discussed. We briefly explored selling parts of the collection. On that
note, Erika informed the committee of the existing Policy for Deaccessioning of
Works of Art. Questions arose about the committee's need to see the actual
storage area. Briefly we talked about the possibility of "Lobby
Shows," based on a NYTimes' account of such a program in The next meeting will be scheduled shortly. Louise Stone |
