I like the draft, but I think it would also be important to attach the paragraph at the end, so prospective applicants would know how they are selected and for how long.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

Established in 1992, the mission of the Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission (CHPAC) is to enhance and enliven the community through art in public places.  CHPAC fulfills its mission by planning and implementing public art projects and programming, managing the Town's Percent for Art program, and initiating partnerships in the arts.  Commission members are appointed by the Town Council to serve as advisors and supporters of public art, increase public access to the arts, and promote understanding and awareness of public art. 

 

Members of the CHPAC are responsible for:

  1. Advising Chapel Hill Town Council on art related issues
  2. Promoting public appreciation of the arts
  3. Ensuring that the CHPAC pursues its mission as defined in all governing documents
  4. Determining the overall direction and development of the CHPAC through proper governance and strategic planning

 

Members of the Chapel Hill Public Arts Commission members are expected to:

  1. Attend monthly Commission meetings, currently on the third Wednesday of every month from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Town Hall
  2. Serve on at least one of the standing committees of the Commission: Percent for Art, Communications, Exhibitions, Collections, Strategic Master Plan, SculptureVisions, Community Project, Arts in Education
  3. Be a steward of public art for the community
  4. Think creatively
  5. Work effectively as a team member
  6. Devote the necessary time and effort to the CHPAC, approximately 10 hours per month
  7. Represent the CHPAC occasionally at Town events or functions

 

 

The Commission is comprised of up to 18 individuals with special knowledge, interest or expertise in the arts who collectively represent the diversity of our community. Members are appointed for 3-year terms, which can be renewed once. If you are interested in becoming a member, please consider attending a regular meeting.
