Hello Everyone

I'd encourage you all to share this widely in your networks.

This was one of the best conferences I attended last year. They are very interested in increasing the global south participation

Alternatively, they also do a great job supporting satellite events and it would be a great Open Access community event for your team.

Happy to help, make connections etc.

Kelsey

Hi Kelsey,

We’re excited to announce OpenCon 2016 will be returning to Washington, DC on November 12-14, where it will be hosted at the American University Washington College of Law. Applications to attend OpenCon will open on June 6th, and you can RSVP for OpenCon Live, which allows you to participate remotely, today.

As OpenCon alumni, you are the best ambassadors for this community and the importance of students and early career academic professionals in advancing Open Access, Open Education, and Open Data. Any help you can provide in spreading the word about OpenCon—either in person or online—is deeply appreciated. If you have just a few seconds, you could share these posts on Twitter and Facebook, or of course write your own.

You’re also a critical source of feedback on potential topics, speakers, and the overall structure of the program. You can provide suggestions to our Organizing Committee here.

OpenCon 2016 builds on the success of the first two OpenCon conferences held in Washington, DC and Brussels, which collectively convened approximately 300 participants from more than 40 countries. OpenCon’s 41 satellite events, held by volunteers around the world, have hosted approximately 2,000 attendees across 25 countries. We’re working to extend the reach of satellite events even further this year. If you're interested in hosting a satellite event, you can express your interest and find more information on our Satellite Events page.

Finally, we hope you’ll consider joining this month’s community call coming up this Wednesday, April 27th, at 12pm EDT / 4pm GMT / 6pm CEST. Details on joining can be found here.

Thank you for all of your efforts and your continued involvement in the OpenCon community!

Best,

Joe, Nicole, and Nick
and our Organizing Committee
