WOOOOHOOOO thank you so much for the very welcome news Jessica!
So with Alex on that score, no excuse now not to get our African communities rocking, and building great global affiliate projects together.
What a brilliant bit of good news to keep a lid on.
Merry weekend to you all,
Max

Dear all

I know a few of you have already heard this through the grapevine, but we have some exciting news about funding for affiliates.

CC will be receiving funding from Google - about $360,000 - to support our global outreach activities over the next 6 months. If this collaboration is successful, it may be extended.

A good portion of these funds will be used for travel and project grants for our community. Other portions will be used to help the Regional Coordinators fund local meetings and events; to foster collaborative projects for affiliates, like translation and toolkit creation; to support our ongoing work with IGOs; and to support some specific activities in Europe.

The most important part of this news is that we will be creating two grant application opportunities for affiliates:

1) travel grants - of about USD$800 each, to ensure CC representation at key strategic meetings locally and worldwide; and
2) project grants - up to USD$18,000 to support innovative affiliate projects designed to forward CC's work in your country or region.

The grants will be awarded through a competitive grant process. We will be sending around more details of this process, including how to apply, in the next few weeks. However, we wanted to give you all some advance notice, so you can start thinking about potential projects or trips now.

Very importantly - we will be announcing this publicly in the next few weeks. Until we do, we please ask that you do not distribute this information further than your own teams.

Let us know if you have any questions.
