Greetings from back in Nairobi.

Know good people working in the journalism/tech/crowdsourcing space in Africa?  We want to make sure everyone with strong ideas and concepts is aware of this crowdsourced journalism competition, the first such prize in Africa.  Quick summary here, and the official call for proposals is below.

The deadline is this Friday for the Big Picture Journalism Award.  The competition will fund and support innovative ways to engage the public in gathering and creating (or distributing) news in Africa.  Journalism concepts should be citizen-driven, participatory, and facilitated by technology.  Three winners will share 15,000.00 euros in prize funding and lots of support from crowdsourced journalism experts and Internews Europe.  Applying requires filling out the online form and attaching a CV, brief project description, and main proposal (could be two pages long).  The competition process will be completed in just one month.

Please help us spread the word.

cheers,
Sasha
