OPENBUSINESS.CC Interview

Yoshai Benkler, professor of law at Yale, has given an interview for OpenBusiness.

The interview explains some of his thoughts he has written about in his new book “The Wealth of Networks”. Most appropriately the book is published under a Creative Commons license.

From GNU-Linux to Wikipedia to collaborative platforms for the creation and distribution of music, text, and moving image, creativity is flourishing in online networks. In the sector of information, knowledge, and cultural production, the networked environment has brought together the imagination and productive powers of individuals to work on new and unique outputs.

But according to Yoshai Benkler traditional economics shaped industrial norms has failed to explain the emerging pattern of open production. Against this context he introduces the concept of commons based peer production driven by non-monetary and non-propietary incentives. OpenBusiess of course had to ask where the money in this context is.
