Kia ora koutou

I'm proposing a CopyNight in Ōtepoti for the 10th birthday of CreativeCommons in Dec. Here are the key questions I need to crowdsource some advice on, from people who have lived in the area longer than I:

1) Any upcoming events I need to be aware of when settling on a
date, to avoid a clash?

2) Start and end times which might fit in well with people's schedules?

3) Can anyone suggest a good venue? The selection criteria are:

* Obviously it needs to be open in the evenings (or willing to stay open between about 7-10pm for us), which narrows things down quite a bit.
* I get the impression that venues in this town are informally divided into "student" places, and "staff/ permanent resident" places. It would be good to pick a place that is fairly neutral.
* I would really like to pick one that serves a good range of non-alcoholic drinks (ideally with a coffee machine) as well as alcohol, in fact one that doesn't serve liqour at all would be fine with me (what do others think?).

Ideally I would like to confirm a place/ time in the next couple of days, so I can get the word out at events like the NetHui South.

Kōrero mai!
