sorry, i should give some context.

Booktype was started by myself (a kiwi) and Aleksander Erkalovic (a croatian), and the renderer by Douglas Bagnal (kiwi). It is an open source book production software:
www.booktype.org

At the moment I project manage it in Berlin. Dont know if that constitutes home grown but much of the code was written in nz by doug, and we also did a code sprint in wellington about 3 years ago...

booktype by default supports only free licenses for books, mainly cc but also 1 or 2 others

its a self interested suggestion, but putting it fwd as it never looks good if you nominate your own project for awards, so if the question didnt come up here i wouldnt have entered it, and probably no one else would have since they dont know the nz link

to strengthen the nz connection here is Aco (the croatian programmer) in an L&P shirt at the springfield doughnut (he is a big simpsons fan and was so happy to be in nz and get the chance to be in springfield ;)

Any CC-related software projects we could nominate for the NZ Open
Source Awards?

Hi

Nominations are open. These awards are only run every 2 years. They have
provided good recognition and publicity for FLOSS projects, individuals
and implementations. NZOSS members have played a crucial role in making
nominations and, of course, winning awards.

I think we have a great panel of judges this year, chaired by Jason
Ryan:

and this year we have a new category, Open Science, which is quite
exciting.

And finally, if you would like to be a sponsor of the NZOSA please get
in touch.

Cheers
Don
