Kia ora Danyl,

Blip TV supports ogv uploads (and will transcode automatically for alternate formats) -- but there will be an open file format version available for download. The BlipTV site is useful for users whose employers restrict freedoms by not allowing them to download the necessary codecs to play ogv in IE, or permissions to install FireFox or Chrome.  We're still waiting for native support for ogv in IE ;-).

Have you uploaded a copy to the Wikimedia commons yet?

Cheers
W

Quick update - Vimeo seems to do its own transcoding to video files as
it uploads them. It failed to upload the Theora/ Matroska file at all,
and I'm not sure that the WebM file is still WebM. So, for now, I've
created a torrent for these files (attached), using Transmission and
some public trackers
(http://extratorrent.com/article/71/public+open+torrent+trackers.html),
and I'm seeding them from my PC.

I'd be keen for feedback on whether these files can be successfully
downloaded, and whether they work when they arrive. They are both less
than half the file size of the original MP4 version, so I'm keen for
opinions on how they compare quality-wise.

Hei kōnā
