Kia ora koutou

I was recently reminded of a file format that I discovered some time ago before the patent on LZW compression expired, making .pdf an open format. Where .pdf which is more designed for making downloadable copies of desktop published material, DJVU (pronounced 'deja vu') is designed to store hard copy materials that have been scanned, with the best possible quality, for a minimum of bytes of storage:

I'd be interested to know if any of the people on the list involved with digital archiving had tried DJVU, and what you thought of it.
