Kia ora koutou

Talked to Brian Opie on Friday. Apparently the Council for the Humanities trust board has agreed that they would like to be the Affiliate Institution for the our license translation project. This means the CC.org.nz portal site can be developed under the auspices of the Humanities Research Network (HRN) which already has a significant web presence and professional web developers involved.

Assuming nobody has any substantial objections to these development, the next steps are for them to formalize this with the iCommons crew and for our proposed Project Lead from the University of Auckland law school to confirm his interest by signing a Memorandum of Understanding. Brian is confident we can complete the translation process and launch the Aotearoa CC licenses in Feb, 2007.

The plan is for a more formal project steering group to be established. This group would liase with iCommons and the HRN and be responsible for the continued facilitation of the license translation and portal development processes. If any of you would like to be part of that group please contact Brian to express your interest (Brian.Opie AT vuw.ac.nz).

I'll keep this list posted on developments and please continue to spread the word and encourage people to join the list if they want to be kept up-to-date with developments.
