Wha...? No, that's not true at all! From section 1:
You may charge a fee for the physical act of transferring a copy, and you may at your option offer warranty protection in exchange for a fee.
Very, very many people make their living this way.

The NonCommercial license element, by the way, limits copyright-controlled uses (distribution, public performance) without limiting uses unrelated to copyright (learning something important to your business, having an attractive computer desktop background).
