CC-BY requires you "give the Original Author credit reasonable
to the medium or means You are utilizing by conveying the name
of the Original Author if supplied; the title of the Work if
supplied; in the case of a Derivative Work, a credit identifying
the use of the Work in the Derivative Work"

This means that a CC-BY movie that used a CC-BY photo or
music track would probably have to list the
photo/music author's name in the movie credits.

GNU-GPL does not require that, to my understanding.
You have to keep existing copyright notices in place,
but you don't have to "ripple up" all the copyright
notices to the top level program.

in other words, you don't have to put all the copyright
notices on a "splash screen" that first comes up when
you run a program. Nor do you have to list them when
you click on the "Help" -> "about" menu, which for most
programs lists the version of the program and a copyright
notice.
