Royal Irish Academy and Irish Research Council Forum: Making Open Access Work for Ireland

 

Venue: Academy House, 19 Dawson Street, Dublin 2

Date: Thursday 2 May 2013, 10am – 4pm

 

The Royal Irish Academy and the Irish Research Council will hold a forum on Open Access this May.

 

The forum will foster dialogue across the community of researchers and scholars, higher education institutions, librarians and research funders on the implementation of the open access national guidelines agreed in 2012 and the implications for publicly funded research.

 

The forum will be chaired by Professor Orla Feely, Chair of the Irish Research Council and speakers will include:

 

Dr Octavi Quintana, Director of the European Research Area

Professor Nicholas Canny, Chair of European Research Council, Working Group on Open Access

Dr Patricia Clarke, Co-Chair of National Steering Committee on Open Access

Dr. Manus Ward, Scientific Programme Manager, Science Foundation Ireland

Professor Keith Jeffery, Professor of British History, Queens University Belfast

Professor Stefan Decker, Director of Digital Enterprise Research Institute, National University of Ireland Galway

Dr. Kevin Lalor, Head of School of Social Sciences and Law, Dublin Institute of Technology

Dr. Eucharia Meehan, Director of the Irish Research Council

Dr Darius Whelan, Lecturer in Law, University College Cork

Ms Ruth Hegarty, Head of publications, Royal Irish Academy

Dr Sandra Collins, Director of the Digital Repository of Ireland

Ms Niamh Brennan, Programme Manager, Research Informatics, Trinity College Dublin
