JMSC seeks Research Associate/Project Manager
The JMSC seeks to hire an experienced and motivated individual to work as Research Associate and Project Manager in digital media and free culture.
Responsibilities include:
- Working with the project leads and Executive Committee of Creative Commons Hong Kong (CCHK) to manage activities and projects including the CCHK launch in October 2008;
- Spearhead applications for public and private grants;
- Collaborating with departments and centers inside and outside HKU to develop projects to promote copyright awareness and public digital media literacy;
- Spearhead the development of a research agenda related to Creative Commons, free culture movements, open source software communities, and the evolution of digital media, content-creation and sharing in East Asia;
- Help to integrate Creative Commons and digital media-related projects and research into the JMSC's undergraduate and graduate-level teaching.
Qualifications: experience with the use of Creative Commons licenses and experience in working within open source and free culture communities; advanced academic degree; knowledge of open source programming is also ideal.
Employment term: 1 year, with possibility of renewal if candidate is successful in obtaining grant funding for ongoing projects.
Start date: As soon as possible.
