Web engineer
Web Engineer needed for growing high-tech nonprofit in Johannesburg, South Africa. Tasks include Linux server administration and web application integration, development and maintenance, responding to
webmaster AT icommons.org. Bug reports and other development and support tasks as needed. Reports to the iCommons Executive Director.
Starting: 1 February, 2007

*Linux server administration (software installation, maintenance, security, backup, reporting)
*Web and other application development, integration, maintenance, support and testing
*Other development and support tasks as requested
===Education Requirements===
*None!
===Experience Requirements===
*2+ years experience developing and supporting websites, software, or servers
===Skill Requirements===
Demonstrable intermediate facility with at least the following:
*Linux server administration
*Scripting for system administration (especially shell and Python)
*Scripting for web development (especially PHP)
*XHTML/CSS/_javascript_
*SQL (especially MySQL)
===Other Qualifications===

*Familiarity with Free Culture and Free/Libre/Open Source Software desirable
*Previous contributions to FLOSS projects highly desirable (point to specific projects, bug reports and patches)
*Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks with varying deadlines
*Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely and complete manner
*Self-starter who can operate with a minimum of supervision
*Good general communication skills
*Ability to work remotely with a highly flexible schedule to accomodate meetings in different time zones. Relocation expenses not available.
