Welcome aboard John and Gwen! And Jonas, we won't let him let you leave the CC family :)

With all the formalities completed, I am very happy to finally be able to introduce you to our two new European Regional Coordinators - John Weitzmann and Gwen Franck.

Most of you will already know John, who has been part of the CC community for many years, and is already a leader in our European community. John is the Legal Lead of CC Germany and is based in Berlin, where he is a Partner of iRights.Law, an IP and media law firm, where he does a lot of a writing on open issues.

Gwen is not currently an affiliate member, but will still be known to some of you through her work with the OpenAIRE project, providing access to research across Europe. She has also worked on Open Access Belgium and TEDxGhent. Her background is in community management, international relations and research.

Having two regional coordinators officially brings Europe in line with our other large regions, increasing the capacity and expertise of our Global Network Team in Europe. John is officially on board as European Coordinator this month, and has already spoken to a few of you working on MOUs, roadmaps and other issues. Gwen will be joining in our affiliate conversations, but will take a larger role in July, once she's wrapped up her current position.

With this I also bid a sad farewell to Jonas, who has been our European Regional Coordinator for almost two years now. Jonas has done a great job of supporting our European community, organising several regional meetings, working with individual teams and taking a lead in everything from grant applications to collaborative activities. We are extremely grateful for Jonas' time with us, and very glad that he will continue to be part of our broader community in his new Shuttleworth Fellowship looking at automated attribution for open objects.

I would like to invite everyone to join me in farewelling Jonas, and in welcoming John and Gwen to their new roles.
