Dear all,
Unfortunately we'll not be able to attend the call - and we apologize for that.

As for the second draft -

1. We see a problem with the definition of NC. For example - don't we want to include blogs that publish banners in order just to cover their expenses as a non-commercial website? The definition today exclude them as a commercial use

2. As for the URI - it is not clear - should we include URI to all the sources that were used? For example if i remix two works that are a remix themselves - should i include 2 URI or should i include the 2 URI of the original remix and the 4 URI of the original works that the original remixes were based on? Where does the line stop?
In addition to it - if we want to include the license to a physical work - (not online work) how should it be done?

3. As for the termination clause - shouldn't we add a grace period to cure the violation? (For example see the GPL v.3 sec. 8 : http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/gpl.html)

Thanks and sorry again

Dear Affiliates,

This email provides the promised agenda and preparation materials for the upcoming regional calls on 4.0d2.  Your input in this next phase is very important.  The agenda and a list of materials we recommend you review in advance are contained in the google doc linked to below, also attached as a pdf.

One of our most important goals for 4.0 is to make the license suite internationally robust and ready for adoption in as many jurisdictions as possible when launched in December.  While we have heard from most affiliates on one or more topics, we need to ask every affiliate team to review the license draft and provide comments.

Please make every effort to join your region’s call. If you cannot join the call, then we ask that you submit comments as soon as practicable (by no later than late September), both on the issues below as well as on the larger question of issues that could impede use of the unported licenses in your jurisdiction (the issue of porting itself to be discussed after the next draft is published).  We are also willing to arrange to speak with individual jurisdiction leads, if requested.  If you have a general issue you want your region and others to discuss during the consultation calls, feel free to send that as an agenda item prior to the calls this coming week.  Those issues may also be posted to the license development list or to this affiliate-only email list.

Please let me (diane AT creativecommons.org) or your Regional Coordinator know if you cannot attend the call and if you have comments on the 4.0 draft.  Call logistics will be circulated shortly.

We look forward to speaking with you this coming week.

Diane
