Dear All,
unfortunately, I will not be able to be there, but I'm very
interested, so please keep me in the loop for any summary, feedback
or the like after the meeting,
all the best,
Federico

Dear affiliates,
My apologies for sending this very late. You are cordially
invited to a meeting in Stockholm, Sweden on the 13th of
June to discuss Creative Commons' role and activities in the
GLAM sector. With the aim to learn from each other, we've
invited Maarten Dammers (Wikimedia Netherlands) and Maarten
Zeinstra (Knowledgeland). Maarten Dammers will talk about
the work of Wikimedia with GLAM institutions, especially in
relation to the Wiki Loves Monuments campaigns. Maarten
Zeinstra will talk about Europeana's rights infrastructure
that enables sharing under all CC licenses.
This will be a full day, starting with a seminar in the
morning to which we've also invited participants from the
GLAM sector. At the seminar, both Maartens, as well as CC's
regional coordinator for Asia-Pacific, Chiaki Hayashi (via
videolink), will present together with Lennart Guldbrandsson
(Wikimedia Sweden) and Johanna Berg (Digisam). The last two
will be held in Swedish to cater to the local participants
from the GLAM sector.
Following from this, we'll meet in a workshop together with
Maarten & Maarten to talk more specifically about CC's
role in the GLAM sector. The aim of the workshop is to come
together around a draft strategy that expands on the role
that CC play in the GLAM sector, outlines activities that
are useful and worth doing, potential collaborators for such
activities, and a proposed timeline.
Participation is open for all affiliates and while it's
especially relevant for those of you who are public leads in
your jurisdiction, participation would also be welcome from
others in an affiliate team.
Agenda
09.00 - 12.00 Open seminar on CC & GLAM
12.00 - 13.15 Lunch
13.15 - 17.00 Workshop with CC affiliates
Where
We'll be in the conference room of the .SE foundation,
located at Ringvägen 100A, Stockholm. The closest subway
stop to this is Skanstull, four stops from Stockholm C.
Food
Lunch will be provided free of charge, and we'll do our best
to cater to any particular requirements. If you think
there's something we should know (allergies, if you're
vegetarian, pescetarian, or so), then please let us know
well in advance.
Travel & accommodation
While we want to see as many affiliates as possible
participate in this meeting, our ability to fund travel
& accommodation is limited at this time. If you think
that the meeting would be relevant to you, but you
absolutely do not have enough funds to cover participation
on your own or through your affiliate, you should inform
about this as early as possibly, but not later than the 1st
of June via email to jonas AT creativecommons.org.
Currently, decisions on this will be taken on a case-by-case
basis by Creative Commons. Providing some funding yourself,
and only asking for a part of it, will obviously increase
the likelihood of a positive reply.
Registration
Please register not later than the 7th of June via email to
jonas AT creativecommons.org.
Best regards,
Jonas
