Dear Catharina, dear all,

Although I also applaud the initiative of holding a European CC meeting, I must say that I won’t be able to join the January meeting because I will be in Japan from January 3rd to March 30th. The April meeting would probably more suitable (under reservation of other commitments). This means that there probably won’t be anyone from The Netherlands at the January meeting to talk about the CC-BUMA pilot.

Best regards,

Lucie Guibault

Dear all,

first of all, I would like to thank Prodromos, Ignasi, Alek, Andrea and Juan Carlos for this wonderful initiative. It's great to see this effort and energy towards regional alliances and I absolutely agree, that it is necessary to bring the European projects closer together.

Starting with a face to face meeting as appendix to the COMMUNIA workshop is certainly the best way push the idea of an European "working group".  Since there seem to be difficulties regarding the date in January, I second Alek's suggestion to start with a kind of "kick-off" meeting in January (as planned January 17, one ahead of COMMUNIA) but also plan for a another - maybe "general meeting" in April, which should then be officially announced soon, so that people can arrange their schedules.  Especially, the discussion about Collecting Societies should then be postponed (or at least deepened in April when Paul and Melanie are available). As Alek has mentioned, we should also think about a way to bring as many European project leads as possible together in April and have the group almost completed.

I am trying to find a way to be in Turin on January 17, 2008 and then fly to Taipei in the evening. For further organization, it would be helpful to know who else will be able to join the meeting in January.

If we can count on a large attendance in January, I would suggest to start with some of the topics that have been proposed but at the same time plan a concrete agenda for April and postpone important decisions to be made.

Best,

Catharina

Hey Paul and everyone else,

as i mentioned to Juan Carlos and Andrea perviously i wont be able to

attend the meeting in Torino (as it takes place at the same time as a

iCommons workshop and the CC Asia meeting). It also seems to be

difficult for Catharina to make it to the meeting, and as far as i

know Melanie won't make in such a relatively short notice as well.

This is indeed a bit of a problem. The dates, from what I understand,

are indeed fixed for the January meeting and I think we should go ahead

and meet and discuss issues.

But the next COMMUNIA workshop (April) is as good an opportunity - since

basically there are many CC leads already present at every workshop,

from what I understand.

So maybe we should plan ahead another such CC meeting for April? I think

that in order to make the group as complete as possible, some leads that

are not part of COMMUNIA will have to be invited as well - which might

pose a logistic / financial challenge? So maybe we should schedule that

meeting to be as inclusive as possible - and make sure that people like

you, who dealt with CS issues, can attend, and Catharina as well.

Is there any other national project on this list who will not be able to

send at least one representative to Torino?

Best,

Alek
