I can see that Wouter has thought about this a lot. I like some of the ideas
that he has expressed here. I had always viewed the edu license as another
option in the list, but perhaps a seperate license would be a better fit.
Either way the idea of offering slightly different logos to differentiate the
various licenses or options would be good so that there is no confusion.
What
if I use a very open CC license and I see some content that somebody has
licensed under a very restrictive version of a CC license - I might not check
into his/her license very closely and just use their content while meeting
all
the requirements of my own, very open, version of a CC license and never
realize that I had violated some of the rights that they had reserved unless
there was some visual distinction to identify that our licenses were not
really the same.
In short, I say we should consider the Orange CC-EDU option.
