Exactly the same rules apply to the internet as to the rest of copyright
material.
The 10% rule still applies, as long as the copying is for research and study.
But in the case of a document with no 'pages' the rule is 10% of the words.
You can also copy more than 10% if it's for research and study, criticism and
review, reporting the news, legal advice or parody and satire - but you still
have to prove that it was 'fair' to copy the larger amount.
I hope this helps.

Dear colleagues,
Can anyone help with a query?
With regard to internet based articles (with a copyright symbol or
otherwise), I was led to believe that copying the standard 10% (with the
appropriate acknowledgement) is fair dealing. Someone else told me that this
wasn't true and that NO part of an internet article can be copied without
prior consent.
(Someone else told me that anything posted to the internet is 'fair game',
and if you don't want it copied in any way, don't put it online, but I
digress).
Any opinions?
Cheers
(oh, and Happy Xmas)
Tim
