You might have something there. See also Psalm 64:7, 92:6, Isaiah 33:19. Proverbs 18:4, 10:5 liken it to deep waters.

In Ezekiel 3.5–6, Yahweh tells Ezekiel that he is not sending him to a people of עמקי שׂפה. This is usually translated as 'unintelligible language'. However, given the basic meaning עמק ('deep'), could this be interpreted as profound/sophisticated speech?
